90 miles!

Destination wake forest nc. We woke up at 5  today to get things going early since we had a 83mile ride planned, somehow this turned into a 90miler since me and oliver got a little lost due to overwhelming ammount of directions on our cue sheet! We were like the last people to arrive, we left around 730 and got to the cruch around 1730. A solid 10hours of riding!

We did get 2lunches thou, one at 10am haha, and I stopped for a milkshake which wound up being not such a good idea later on. The last 4 miles of the ride I was really stuggling pretty bad. Due In large part to the ammount of ice cream in my system I presume.

And my butt and lower back were pretty much numb which was an unpleasent exprience to say the least.

Lucky I didnt fall over like 5or6 people did! We had sevrall van riders by the end of the day.

We encountered our first hill on the ride and they are just a small preview of whats to come on the other end.of this state in the appalachian mountians!

Its going to.be good to have some time to settle down and not.bike for a few days.in Chaple Hill,.where we are headed tmrw.

Im excited.to.get into town for a number of reasons! One because there are about 8people on the trip that go to college there, but mostly because.we.are going to.have two.build days there!

Finally going to be getting down to business and hammering some nails into some boards! Cant wait to actually get started on.what I signed up for this trip in the first place for! Horay Habitat for Himanity! Hooray Hammers!

Fun fact, Wake Forest University is not located in Wake Forest Nc. Sorry for the sloppyness of this post but its late and I did ride 90miles today so therefore I am excusssssed

Greenville! The other one!

So this was yesterday, we rode about 56miles to greenville nc. Before the trip David, Jake and I bought some flAGS to let fly from our back packs as we road, I got an american flag so look for that in these pics and the other two being the good ole southern boys they are, are rockin the north carolina state flags! We call our selves team freedom! Colin who is from south carolina was waving his confederate flag from his pack, hes been banned from team freedom

Cool things that happened include but are not limited to:

Finding a coke can from 1983, it was an nc state ncaa basketball championship can!

We climbed a real tall tower along the highway.

In greenville I played a game of darts with oliver the dutchman and we were actually on the same team and somehow I ended up losing a $500 bet when he nailed a triple 20 to end the game of 301.

Its funny cuz this is the second $500 bet ive lost in as many weeks.
I bet muki he couldnt get a 7-6 split on the tenth frame of a bowling game amd he then proceeded to do just that, I just keep getting hustled!

Nice it worked!
So today was like the easiest day ever only a 34mile ride on mostly flat ground and very little wind, I rode with katie and steve once more but for the second part of the day we rodw with the serious rides ed and colin, we road the last 12miles pace lining each other and averaged about 21mph! Twas most intense.

We arrived at bellheaven around noon a full hr and a half b4 we were supposed to get there. So we had lots of free time.

We went down to the lake side and had a huge mud fight for a good 30mins, then we took off in cars to some houses where some fruendly local folk let us shower!

I lucked out and was treated to a shower at a really nice house out of town, the ladie was real nice to us and gave us some authentic east carolina bbq and she had a beagle puppy named maggie that I played with for a solid 30mins! Heres a pic!
